Before you put logiCells in front of a client.
Choosing a runtime for a paying client is a commitment you’ll carry for years. These are the questions to ask first. We say plainly which answers are confirmed today and which ship with the Alpha.
What you need to know before you commit.
Each answer carries its status.
Is Community Alpha ready for production client systems?Confirmed
No, not for business-critical systems. APIs, tooling and documentation can change between Alpha releases. It is a good fit today for:
- prototypes and scoping work before a contract;
- internal tools for a client who accepts early-access software;
- your own projects, to learn logiCells before a real mission.
Wait for a stable release before using it for regulated, business-critical or long-unattended client systems.
Where does my work live?Confirmed
In declarative model files inside your project, edited in VS Code or any editor. Version control, code review and CI work as usual: the cell CLI is designed for repeatable commands and automation.
What does my application depend on?Confirmed
Your application is described by your model; it runs on the logiCells runtime, which LGC develops and maintains. Treat it like any platform dependency in your offer: tell the client, and include it in your maintenance terms.
Can I use Community for paid client work?With the Alpha
The Community licence terms ship with the Alpha package. Read them before you commit a client. If your situation isn’t covered, ask us: Founding Freelancers get these answers first.
Who owns what I deliver to the client?With the Alpha
Ownership of models and application artefacts is set out in the Community licence published with the Alpha. Until you have read it, don’t promise the client more than those terms say.
Where does it run?With the Alpha
Supported operating systems, deployment targets and data storage options are documented in the Alpha installation guide and release notes.
Can my client move away from logiCells later?With the Alpha
The exit path, covering data export and how the model can be read outside the runtime, is documented with the Alpha. If this decides whether you can use logiCells on a project, tell us: it helps us prioritise.
What if the client’s project outgrows Community?Confirmed
Commercial editions exist for larger or critical deployments, with support from LGC. See logicells.com.
Where do I get help?Confirmed
During the Alpha, through the community channels and the feedback page. Founding Freelancers also have a direct channel with the team.
Be upfront. It’s a selling point.
Clients rarely object to a tool. They object to surprises. Say what you use, why it helps them, and when the platform choice will be reviewed.
- Position it on scope. The model lets you both see the application’s concepts before anything is built.
- Show the plan. When they ask for a change, show them what it affects. It makes your quote easier to accept.
- Set a review point. Agree to revisit the platform choice before any production launch.
A paragraph you can adapt for your proposal
Is your question missing? Ask it. Questions from developers with real client projects decide what we document first.
